A tealight (also tea-light, tea light, tea candle, or informally tea lite, t-lite or t-candle) is a candle in a thin metal or plastic cup so that the candle can liquefy completely while lit. They are typically small, circular, wider than their height and inexpensive.

What are Tea Lights made from? There are many kinds of common waxes, and different kinds of waxes have different melting points. The melting point of paraffin wax is 57 ~ 63 ℃, polyethylene wax is 102-115 ℃, EVA wax is 93-100 ℃, PP wax is 100 ~ 135 ℃. There are also some special industrial waxes whose melting point can reach 150 ℃。Refined white wax with melting point of 59.3 ℃ has spontaneous combustion point of 295 ℃, ignition point of 258 ℃ and flash point of 220 ℃. The boiling point is mostly between 300 ~ 550 ℃.

During combustion, the candle becomes soft and out of shape, the tea light wax can overheat which is very easy to ignite the surrounding combustible materials. Keep the tea light candles away from flammable objects. The best way to maintain a safe burning environment for tea light candles is to keep the candle away from any flammable objects, kids and pets. Do not place the candle near curtains or other fabrics, and never place the candle beneath anything that can catch on fire. Avoid placing a tealight candle on top of a plastic surface, even if it is in a holder, because the heat can cause a fire.
